Winemaker Notes...Joseph Barton
1998 Zinful Cab Back by popular demand. A 50/50 blend of Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon from seven different
vineyards in the Paso Robles appellation. A classic table wine with a wild cherry and raspberry play in the mouth followed by hints of pepper and mint on the back end. A wine styled for a wide palate to be drunk in
its youth. Perfect for the grill with whatever meat or vegetable you are cooking. Released March 17, 2000.
1997 Barton Family Reserve Cabernet, Alpha Blend This is the “Big” Cab that you have been waiting for. Cabernet
grapes from Swetland, Silver Canyon, Cougar Ridge, and Fuller Vineyards offers rich fruit complexity matched only by the firm tannin structure developed through 30 months of aging in French and American oak barrels.
Seven percent Cabernet Franc from Justin Vineyards lends more mouth feel and aromatics to the wine. A cellar powerhouse for years. This is the style of Cab my Dad and I had always striven to make.
1997 Barton Family Reserve Meritage, Lineage Blend This is no doubt the best wine yet! A blend of 64% Cabernet
Sauvignon, 24% Cab Franc, and 12% Merlot from five different vineyards. A wine that showcases the complexity and richness not found in many wines. Aged 30 months in French and American oak. The Meritage imparts the
bold structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the finesse of Cabernet Franc and softness of Merlot. This will be a beautiful aging wine. A wine that truly took three generations to make.
